Why is a trademark published?
23-05-10In most countries, trademarks are published in the Official Gazette to provide anyone who believes they would be damaged by the registration of a published mark with an opportunity to challenge the proposed registration. A trademark is published by the government agency responsible for granting trademark rights in a particular jurisdiction to provide notice to the public of the trademark application and to allow interested parties to oppose the registration of the mark if they believe they may be harmed by its registration.
