How to file a trademark renewal?
23-05-10
The required documents for renewals are the same in most countries.
The applicant needs to complete a renewal form which can be provided by the relevant application office, the applicant needs to provide a copy of the certificate initially issued, and proof that the trademark has been used in commerce.
The said form shall be filled with the trademark details, number, classes, applicant details, and other required information that can be found in the original application.
According to the country, in which you renew your trademark, additional documents may be required. For example, in the UK, a supporting fee document must also be filed, which outlines the forms you are submitting and their related fees.
The renewal and late filing fees are different, according to the regions. However, all region charge for renewals on a per-class basis.
While there are differences in filing requirements between territories, trademark owners that conduct their business internationally shall consult IP specialists to take advantage of their knowledge that ensures their IP is effectively protected internationally.
